Wow, what an unbelievable

Wow, what an unbelievable ending. I was sure that the Seahawks could have won in the last 2 minutes. Incredible!

poor last call by Seahawks!!!

Absolutely!

Dumb, bone-head move to call a pass play when they had Lynch.

I guess one can say they certaily called the "unexpected" play...

Ron

I guess the saying isn't true after all.

"Cheaters never win" was wrong in this case.

Huh?

There was a football game yesterday and I slept through it!!!

you have the best red zone runner in the game...for several years so definitely pass!

Game over. Next season

Game over. Next season ahead. Time to re-group...

Of course if the play would have worked

We would all be talking about how brilliant Pete Carroll is for passing when everyone was thinking run.

I Agree

Easy for those Monday Morning Quarterback commentators to criticize Pete Carroll. Had he run and was stopped they would have said perhaps he should have passed. Many times where there is risk there is reward, but not this time.

Not Monday Morning

It was instant and universal incredulity at an inconceivable play call that will haunt him the rest of his days.

Still a great game

OK it was a bonehead play call, but it took a great interception to make it play out as a bonehead play call. Still among the best Super Bowls overall despite the late error.

cheaters

have respect they beat them fair and square...only people that say that they cheated know little about sports...you get beat you accept the loss and move on... not accuse team of cheating so unsportsman like!

Half time

I generally watch the half time show but this year's was lame IMHO

True and ......

The play came from the bench and they also knew that everyone else knew this also.

If it works you're a hero, but if it doesn't, your a bum!

Look like they out-thought themselves. confused

Based on this alone, Seattle didn't deserve the win.

Fun to see the "great" catch that set this up.

Very entertaining!

So just what do the SEAHAWKS do when they're down by 4 points; it's 4th DOWN; the END ZONE is a couple of yards away and the 3 previous running plays failed to score???

We'll never know now, will we?

Nesting dolls of misery

I thought this was an interesting take on what happened to the NFC late this season, from Chicago Tribune writer Sam Farmer:

"Detroit lost to Dallas, with a pivotal play being a pass-interference flag on the Cowboys that was picked up.

Dallas then lost to Green Bay, with the key moment being a catch by Dez Bryant that was overturned.

Green Bay lost to Seattle in overtime, after the Seahawks pulled off a fake field goal for a touchdown, a successful onside kick, and a two-point conversion that should have been knocked down or intercepted.

And the Seahawks blew it in the final minute of the Super Bowl, getting too cute inside the one-yard line by trying to pass instead of letting Marshawn Lynch pound in for a touchdown.

So even though the Seahawks and their fans will spend the off-season writhing over what might have been, theirs was just the final shell in the NFL's nesting dolls of misery."

Lynch Is Not Exactly A Secret

In that play, Lynch was covered and would have been neutralized. Besides, it was a good ploy to not use what was heavily expected. It just didn't work this time.

It was the wrong call at the end, not because of the result but because of the percentages being against it. You have a bull, use him. Sometimes coaches make mistakes.

Sometimes, it's the bull that gets gored. grin

True, running the ball is the high percentage play, but I've seen many first and goal series go for 4 runs and get stopped 4 times.

As my cat would say, the only bowl I'm interested in is too often empty, and rarely super. cool

WA

Being from Eastern Washington, I didn't care if Seahawks won. They're from the swamp side of the state, after all.

But I sure would've loved to have seen New England LOSE!
