Early adventures with GPS

Thought I would share a little about me to get these discussion forums active.
One of the first adventures I had using a GPS was when my husband handed a GPS-V to me and said, “why not let the GPS get you to your mommy playgroup.” This was quite a while ago, and the model I was using was not as advanced as the one I have now – it thought that someone’s private farm was a road that I could drive through.

I was very unfamiliar with the whole area and totally depending on this little machine to get me to where I was going. I had not used one before and had no knowledge of how they worked.

So I get to this dead end road – no cell phone service – and I had one of those freak out moments when you just want to chuck the thing out the window. I didn’t know that if I turned around it would re-route me to my friend’s house just fine. When I finally did arrive I was 30 minutes late, a little flustered but totally impressed that this little machine actually got me there.

After that, I have become very dependent on my GPS, and my girlfriends sometimes laugh at me when I turn down their directions. (I have faith in my new GPS.)

All the worlds indeed a stage and we are merely players. Rush

I have fun

I play with the text editor and change phrases. Some times I forget what I changed them to so when a changed prompt comes up I laugh right along with my constant companion. Just 2 weeks ago we were heading toward a ferry when we were told "Get on the boat." Of course, at the other dock we were told "Get off the boat."

That and she never says that 'R' word. It's "Don't worry. I'm not lost - yet."
