Which Florida is a better map?

Probably because there are some good free maps projects available for Argentina and Brazil and Garmin does not include full coverage there, they have added Florida as part of the South America map.

However, taking a look side by side of the Florida map at the South America map and the North America one, at least at basecamp and mapsource, the maps were different.

I did not do an in-depth research. I was just taking a quick look at the symbols (restaurants, parks, etc) in Miami Beach, and they looked very different.

So, here's my question, which Florida is a better map, the one included as part of the North America map or the other one included inside the South America map?

Please note that I was comparing the same update version (both were 2015_30)

I'd assume the NA one because it's a part of USA and NA maps are targeted for US people. However, on the other hand, the SA map is smaller, so Garmin would have more available space so as to add details for Florida.

Bottom line, both arguments looked reasonable.

Anyway, my question stands still. Which one is a better map?

Thank you all.

PS: I realize that "better" depends on personal preferences.

NA map

We spend three months every winter in Florida ... and have always depended on the NA map PLUS various POI Factory files to get where we got to go.

I can't really speak to the SA mapset ... but why not install both MAPSETS on your GPS (assuming space available).

We did this years ago on a trip to Alaska ... had two versions of NA loaded (one on GPS, one on SD) ... and found that many gas stations had been eliminated on the newer mapset ... and were able to find gas stations by toggling one or the other mapset on and off.

It seems to me that having both the NA and SA Florida maps loaded (with one toggled on and the other toggled off) would give you the best of both worlds.

Garmin 205, 260W, 1450LMT, 2460LMT, HEREwego for iPhone ... all still mapping strong.

Florida maps

Openstreetmaps has more detail for the Everglades although it doesn't have all he features of the Garmin map. I don't know the difference between NA or SA. Now you have 3 choices.

No-brainer

For me, it is a no-brainer, since I only have the North America Map with free lifetime updates that comes with the Nuvis I own.

Open Street Map would be the other choice.

Thank you all for the

Thank you all for the comments.

I'd rather go with the NA one as the main map (toggled) and the SA as a backup (not toggled) just in case.
