There hasn't been a 3597 built since last spring and any new ones I've found on the Internet lately are either full list price or very near full list.

There have been a number of "refurb" offers over the past few months with prices in the $200 - $300 ranch but they seem to have pretty much dried up as well.

I've never ordered from them, but they do have factory refurbs with a longer-than-standard warranty for $250:

The only cheaper 3597s I've seen recently are used ones being offered on eBay.

The vast experience here at The Factory from buying factory refurbed 3597s is that except for the packaging, they're indistinguishable from new devices.

Given that vendors with new 3597s available are selling them at well-above MSRP, I doubt that these will be on any holiday special. The real risk in waiting, in my opinion, is that all new/refurb stock will be gone and then only used ones will be found when you're ready to buy.

PCNation in the past with no issues, I didn't need to return anything so my experience was positive. Of course, YMMV

I noticed that these were back in stock last night at PC Nation, so I ordered one.

I got a refurb 3597 from PCNation for $240. Good communication. Sent via USPS Priority Mail which took 8 days to half way across the country. Unit arrived as described in a generic Garmin box. Works, so I am happy.
