Looking forward to the changes.Right now the right eye a not up to par yet.Has been getting better since the operation Tuesday as far as seeing at a distance.I had pressure on both eyes. I took drops every night. They said after the surgery I would most likely not need to take the drops any more. One day after surgery pressure down to 15 in the first eye. They said the cataracts were causing the pressure. So this was a big plus.Hoping 2nd one gets same results.

You'll really love the new lenses

About a year and a half ago I had both eyes worked on. I got the implants with the Frenzel lenses so I can see distant objects and also be able to read without glasses.
They are really nice.

Crystal Lense

My doctor suggested Crystal Lenses, but I opted for Lasik, with one eye for distance and one eye for reading. I was in contacts for this set up for years and it worked great.
My doctor said that the Lasik for up close would change as I became older. It did. I am now using reading glasses for just a few things. I was afraid of the Crysal Lense but wish I would have had it back then.
Is the Frenzel lense the same as Crystal lense?
Franzel was not mentioned to me but this was about 12 years ago I think.

I had cataracts in both eyes. Usually the doc removes the lenses with the cataracts and implants plastic lenses in their place. These are fixed focal lenses, used for either distance vision or close-up for reading. Most people that get these lenses opt for seeing at a distance without glasses and then use reading glasses for up close. What I called Frenzel lenses have a small funny looking thing in the center of the lens that is set to focus at about 13 inches for reading. With these lenses I can see both distant and near objects without any glasses.

Frenzel is not a brand of lens, but is named for the person that first developed these lenses for improving lighthouse beams a long time ago. Frenzel was a French physicist.

Always wishing for the other part of the year.....

Crystalens

My wife had Crystalens (not Crystal Lens) implants in 2005 by Dr Doane in Kansas City and would have no other. Lasik is known for creating a dry eye problem which she did not want. Crystalens implants are called "full focus" because they have a little hinge on them that allows the lens to flex for CU vision.

Been There

Been there, done that, got that t-shirt.

What really shocked me was after the 1st eye was done, seeing the difference in overall brightness between the 2 eyes.

It's amazing the brightness difference between the "new" eye and the "old" eye.

Just A Minor Point

Frenzel was a German ENT physician and taught the Luftwaffe how to clear the ears in dive bombing exercises.

Fresnel was the French physicist that developed the Fresnel lens.

That was the first thing I noticed. The lights in the house are even brighter now.Flowers outside in the yard have brighter and deeper colors.Really happy about eye pressure dropping.
