poi file names

Hi,

I'm using my new nuvi 660 and when I upload poi files I rename them, i.e "drive in theaters in US-Canada"
but in nuvi I see it as Drive -In theaters_V" (from here I don't know this drive in theaters for which country, city etc... etc.)

why don't I see the full name in nuvi?
what is this V ? (it's with almost every filename)

any suggestion ! comments !

Thanks.

The _V is created by the POI

The _V is created by the POI Verifier tool as a file that has been checked for basic syntax and some typos. I always rename the file to what I want to see in the GPS which includes removing the _V.

See the POI Verifier link in FAQ/Help section or just link to the website http://poiverifier.com

And to answer your first question POI Verifier allows you to filter out states. If you look at the bottom of the states list you will see the Canadian Proveniences starting with AB,BC..etc.

Finally you need to be more specific by "full name" what are you expecting? The POI file is just file name and the text in side you can change also to what ever you like.

Please chime in RT, our beloved POI Verifier author, if you have corrections or additional comments.

POI File Names

Hi,

Are you running your files through POI File Verifier before you load them? POI File Verifier creates a new file with a _V added to the end of the original file name.

How are you renaming the file?

POI Loader will load all of the files that are within the folder you point to. If you want the file renamed, you need to rename it within the folder on your PC. Possibly you did and also have the other file in the same folder and both are being loaded. It is very straitforward, File name (although it may be truncated) is the same as the file name within your PC folder, and all files within that folder are uploaded unless you specifically decide not to load a particular file.

poi file names

thanks for all the inputs.

I already figured it out. I'm not sure what poi verifier does as I havn't used that tool yet.
but I noticed whatever you want to see in nuvi, you just rename the .csv file to that.

Thanks.
