Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – August 2014

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Enjoying the heat in Iowa while it is still here!

Lost or not?

Just returned from Myrtle Beach SC. Looking for a restaurant. The GPS said turn right but the screen map showed bearing left. I turned right and got the &#$%@ recalculating. Went around the block and got the same thing. This time I followed the map screen and found what we were looking for.

Went to Atlanta to see my

Went to Atlanta to see my son. Going down was fine. Coming back (I went a different way) was also ok except for a stretch in NC that took me off the interstate and onto a road that ran parallel to the interstate. After about 2 miles and 10 stoplights at every shopping plaza entrance it told me to get back on the interstate. Huh? Did someone get paid to code in that "detour"? Did they think I'd interupt my drive back home to shop at Bubba's smoke Shop? It was 2 AM...the shops weren't even open! Should've Map Quested the route! smile

Mine has me turning here (right or left) when there are no offroads in sight...here or anywhere else smile

I have a packing list on my pc that I print out each time I take a trip.

It not only has packing but things to do before trip also.

I have perfected it over the years and could not go on a trip with out it.

Keeping the windmill alive

Keeping the windmill alive !!!

Finally convinced my friend to...

...get a Nuvi and get into the 21st century. I'll steer him to POI-Factor

Back to school!

Took our daughter back to school (her 5th year of a 4 year program, but that's another story)...

And on the way back, my Nuvi once again earned its keep, getting me around some nasty road construction! All I have to do is bail and it will keep feeding me directions to get where I want to go!

(It can't do anything about a sore bottom from a six hour drive, though...)

Lake Superior.

Heading out for a few days of R&R with my daughter's family at a resort on the Lake Superior north shore. Looking forward to some geocaching, hiking, relaxation and just taking in the scenery. I may play around with Viago on my Samsung tablet, but will be relying on my nuvi for the road trip, and my Oregon for the hiking/geocaching.

Costco near Brookfield, WI

The entry for the Costco near Brookfield, WI was definitely off by about .6 miles. The coordinates were somewhat close, but the entry took me past the entrance to the mall where it is located to the entrance of a residential area.
