Same Garmin model different map

I own 2 Garmin Gps.. a 1450 and a C550. I like the feature of the mp3 player and be able to use my phone with the garmin.

2 month ago the sound on the C550 went out..on that unit I had the 2014.20 NT america map.

I purchase I used C550 garmin from Ebay..also have the mp3 and bluethoot compatible..and it work fine

but this one have a map on the unit that is called City Navigator North America NT v8.

I have no idea what this V8 mean..but I know that it must be a very old map.

Now this is my question..
IT is possible to copy everything from my older Gps(the one that the sound went out) and delete everything from this unit and transfer to this gps that I purchase latetly?

I was comparing the file and they all match ..this unit it only have an addition file called Gmapprom.unl that is missing on my older gps.

Or can I just delete this V8 map and replace it with the 2014.20 that I have on the other unit?

.

Yes, City Navigator NT v8 is a very old map. About 7 years old.

But no, it is not possible to copy the new maps from your other GPS unit onto a different unit. The maps are only unlocked to that unit.

If you want newer maps on your "new" unit, you will need to purchase them for that unit.

You can, however, copy your Favorites to the new unit.

There is a way to get new

There is a way to get new maps onto older units. I don't remember how to do this or which units to which other units it is possible with, but I have definitely done it before myself a couple of years ago when I had 2 different models at the same time. (I have since upgraded all of my units to the same model again so I have been out of practice). Perhaps someone who is more knowledgeable than I could explain?
