Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – July 2014

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Postings

Last winter I was away in Mexico as I will be again this coming winter.
I lost my windmill and it took a bit of work to get it back.
My question is? How often does one need to post per month to keep the Windmill alive?
Thx

There was one reply before the end of the month rule applied.

Yes (eventually).

You don't need to post every week, but you do need to have activity in 3 of the last 5 weeks to remain active.

Been there, and it's worth a trip at least once. I wanted to see Devils Tower since the movie Close Encounters, and I finally did it a couple of years ago.

No comment since I've never been there.

There's a $10 fee and the manned entrance station opens at 8am. But there are self-payment station at several locations, so I suspect you can go there earlier. It's worth it, but I recommend getting there early. Parking spaces at the summit are limited, and they fill up quickly, especially on weekends. There's a short hike from the parking area to the summit, but do take it slow. The air is only 60 percent of sea level up there.

Also don't miss Summit Lake on the way down.

Mt Evans. Went there is mid June 2 years ago. Summit Lake was mostly frozen. Te wind would take your breath away and make you shiver. It was cold. The temps were in the low 30's.

Up on top, I didn't have the wind to climb to the top. My friend, who lives in Denver climb to the top.

Last Ride

Led a small group to one of my favorite places to eat breakfast in Sanger, Texas. A little hole in the wall called the Old West Cafe. If you leave this place still hungry, it's your own fault. If you are in North Texas, this place is one to check out.

Jill got us to the doggie sitter, breakfast stop (though we left after 45 min and no food), and to our final destination. Well, almost. Jill said the motel was on the right. Oops! Either she is confused about which is right or left or she was just repeating her programming.

We will be on our way home tomorrow. It has been a nice time with daughter and family.
