I see a new GCD software update for the 35xx nuvis to v4.40:
nuvi 35x7 and 35x8 (GCD File) software version 4.40
as of June 6, 2014
Change History
Changes made from version 4.30 to 4.40:
◦Enabled DAB traffic reception in Norway and the Netherlands.
◦Improved map drawing performance when receiving DAB traffic.
Given Garmin's program and map update issues in the past few months, I'll wait a while before installing this, especially since I'm not in Europe.
I do hope that folks who install it will report back here with their findings.

I updated my 3597 a few days ago, used it yesterday, didn't have any problems. I'm in US, SF Bay Area.

...And my questions is this. Why would they include this update for the U. S.? I would think this would be for Europe only. Maybe there is something I'm not picking up on. (By the way, I haven't done the update yet.)

Garmin has shown a knack of incorporating undocumented features, fixes (or mess-ups) in new firmwares. There are some peculiar auto-zoom behavior in the previous versions. I would like to see if they got corrected.
I can always roll back to one of the older versions if I do not like the new firmware.

I suspect that since the firmware for the nuvi 2xx7, 2xx8, 35x7 and 35x8 is all the same and AFAIK the 2xx8 and 35x8 are only sold outside NA that is the biggest reason that you will see updates that appear to only deal with European issues. There is also, as has been pointed out, often fixes in these updates that affect all the units but don't make the "change history" list.
Nuvi 350, 760, 1695LM, 3790LMT, 2460LMT, 3597LMTHD, DriveLuxe 50LMTHD, DriveSmart 61, Garmin Drive 52, Garmin Backup Camera 40 and TomTom XXL540s.
