BaseCamp Unlock Map

I just downloaded 2015.10 map to my laptop. BaseCamp says that the map is locked. Went online to unlock, but all if offered was to my GPS. How do I unlock the map so I don't have to have my laptop plugged in.
I read the posts here, but .... I could have missed it though

I didn't search for BaseCamp ... my search was for unlock maps. Followed the steps along with the information that was on myGarmin, but all I get is "invalid product code." I tried using both units and both of the codes ... the 8 character and the long one. Since the page showed all the maps that were installed, I even tried the codes from the first installed map to the most recent.
Not one to give up so will keep trying.

I followed your link and found all the codes. Garmin unlock page says to use the 8 character code (I tried 'em all). There is no dialog that asks if you want to unlock the map on the PC. Have no issues with maps my units.
The unlock page shows all the maps that are "installed" so I tried the first, the last and in between.
Says installed, but I am sure that they are not all "installed", but updated.
EDIT:
Found the issue. Evidently when I originally downloaded to the PC I didn't do the "scan for devices" in GE. I did, re-downloaded (about 2 minutes)It would seem that the unlock is passed from the device to the PC. BaseCamp now shows the map as unlocked. As far as I can tell, myGarmin doesn't work for PC map unlocking because of this tie to the code on the GPS.
