GTM Traffic Receiver

Which GTM Traffic Receiver works (or works better) in Europe?
I have a GTM-35 (came with nuvi 3790) and a GTM-60 (came with nuvi 3597). Both have lifetime NA traffic subscription.
There are a few trial traffic subscriptions available for some countries in Europe.
I can also purchase traffic subscriptions for various parts of Europe.
I know, that I must have CN EU NT maps for my device to function in Europe.
I would greatly appreciate any advice on this.

I would go for the GTM 60 in Europe

I have 2 different 3597 - one Nort american and one European, both with a GTM 35 and GTM 60. Since I travel a lot between Europe and USA.

The GTM 35 works ok in all of Europe, but the GTM 60 is even better. The GTM 60 will work everywhere where the GTM 35 works and in addition to that will pick up HD signals where available. I have used both all over Europe and would choose the GTM 60 in a heartbeate.Dont bother with extra traffic subscriptions, the GTM 60 is more than enough.

BUT if you bought the GTM 60 in Nort America it will probably NOT work in Europe with a 3597. I have several times picked my North American GTM 60 with me on roadtrips in Europe by mistake, and they do NOT work in europe (a license thing). It will charge your device but that is all. You need a European GTM 60 for it to work in Europe. I have learned this the hard way.

I do belive that a North American GTM 35 will work in Europe.

Earlier garmin traffic-recievers worked great on both continents but since the salestart of the 3597 they have toughened the licenses of the trafficrecievers and they will nowdays only work guaranteed on the continent you bought it.

It,s a djungle these days with trafficrecievers.

First you need to know the difference. The GTM-60 is digital traffic. You cannot use it on the 3790, that is it will tell you to update which you cannot. So all it will do is charge your 3790. The 3597 on the other hand can use both. I'm not a fan of the GTM-60. It doesn't seem to switch to regular traffic when digital is not available. So its searching all the time. I find my GTM-35 from my 3790 works better on my 3590. You can test this. But you will need digital traffic service. Not all of europe has it.

Thank you

Thank you both, Marschall and Speed2, for the very informative help.
I will probably take both GTM traffic receivers and nuvis to Europe and compare the results.
Now I know more about traffic receivers.
Thank you again.
