The Magellan I retired had an audible alert for over the speed limit. Is there a way to have either a voice or a beep-beep when you go over the speed limit? In the Magellan you could input the mph over the speed limit you wanted to be alerted. It was very useful.

Just finished a search that produced frustration at the fact that Garmin has the capabilities to implement the Excess Speed Alert and an alert for a speed reduction notification. The latest posting I found on this was early 2013 and since my unit was introduced before that time, I guess the simple answer is "not available." It was indicated however that it would only take a firmware update to make that change. They probably wouldn't do that ... no $$ in that - directly. But there would be in introducing a "new and improved" model. However, the indirect $$ would be not losing current and future customers to the competition who do offer the feature. The Magellan Roadmate 5245T-LM does offer the feature and it is several year old.
