Junction views

I recently made a trip from California to Phoenix, AZ. There were lots of junction views with the newest large JCV files. It seems that between my copilot, myself and then navigator(Garmin 1450), sometimes the view comes on about 1.5 miles out and at other times it is .8 miles out. Is there a rule for this? I like to know these things ahead of time but not sure if it is a matter of many views coming together and they have to show one out there. Is there a way to show the view for a longer time? A few times it was on the screen and gone before we could view it. I can navigate without it but want to use it if available. Any ideas?

some thoughts

I think the time in advance for display may be governed by the database expected average travel speed for the segment of road you're on.

I believe you can view the junction view early by touching your finger to the upcoming turn display icons in the upper left corner of your screen. There is some delay on this function, so you'll need to do it a bit early.

Lastly, for truly persistent junction view, you can use a different Garmin model that uses the split screen junction view display technique as does my 3790 LMT, which keeps the junction view on-screen until you have actually cleared the turn. This comes with a price, and that only half the screen is devoted to junction view, so you have a little less resolution on the job.

Mine are .8 mile

Mine are almost always consistantly .8 mile out from exit ... not sure I've ever seen a junction view out further than that.

Interesting you are seeing them occasionally at more than a mile.

Since I'm in an RV ... I would like more of an advanced JV ... but I don't think distance is a setting on my 2460.

I believe your current speed also plays a factor in that the JV shows about a minute before you would need to maneuver.

Sounds correct

There was a difference in my speed. My copilot could have missed the distance. I too would like to set the distance from JV, but that time there were several one right after another.

One of the things the OP

One of the things the OP asked was if he could have the JV on screen for a longer time. It is my understanding that the full screen JV has a very short view time as compared to the half-screen JV. Or am I wrong?

My half-screen JV starts at about 3/4 mile out and lasts until I take the exit (or miss it and go past).

I never get lost, but I do explore new territory every now and then.

Junction View

I have a 2460. I love the JV and it is about 3/4 out and closes when the turn in complete.

More advanced lane guidance

I find that the guidance in the upper left of the display changes from single arrow to multiple shaded arrows at about 2 miles from the next turn. That is soon enough to change lanes.

It is what it is

I do not believe there are any user settings for timing of when, or how long a JV is shown. They are either enabled, or disabled.

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

Junction view

As far as I know, the split screen JCV file is not offered for manual downloading by Garmin.

Even if it were, it would not work with your 1450. The 1450 uses a full-screen JCV file and the only way to have split-screen Junction Views is to purchase a nuvi that offers split screen JVs
