Corruption
This doesn't surprise me one bit. These things are more political than safety devices. I wouldn't doubt that city councilmen, managers, etc. in almost every town that has these are taking kickbacks to push the use of these devices.
Ya Think..!!..?
Are you that it's always been that way... and most likely will continue?

I'm not really lost.... just temporarily misplaced!
Looks like it's starting to get some more press

Fom twix's article: "Rosenberg said that during his tenure Redflex "bestowed gifts and bribes on company officials in dozens of municipalities within, but not limited to the following states: California, Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia."
Hopefully residents of those states will hear about this and start asking some questions.
Does this surprise anyone?
Does this surprise anyone?
Politicians and big money are always hand-in-hand and behind the scenes.
I never get lost, but I do explore new territory every now and then.
Scandal could be widespread - It is widespread
The truth is coming out. In this stage of the economy many are looking to trim the fat, and the red-light-cams is just one that annoy people.
There is a little degree of safety, but officials are fleecing you for revenue not safety.
The only safety is on their future retirement. If there is smoke there is fire. The truth is only one, lies you can make dozens to justify what you want and need. The truth must be known.
I'm Not Surprised in the Least
This doesn't surprise me one bit. Especially coming out of Chicago. They pretty much invented political scandal and public official bribery in this country.
Corrruption
How do you spell CHICAGO. "CORRUPTION".
Having lived in the Chicagoland area most of my life, this is just a fact of life. It has become so pervasive that the locals just keep voting in these folks without a second thought. My heartburn is with what is going on with state income tax and property tax. It will probably mean a move for me in the next year now that I am retired.

Safety?
Safety of the financial security of the city that put it in their city and the pocket of the politicians that support it.

Interesting
But not surprising.
