nuvi 2597 Splash Screen Dimensions, Image File Type & DPI?

(1) Can anyone advise me of the exact pixel dimensions for a nuvi 2597 splash screen?
(2) What image file format does the unit utilize?
(3) What dpi is optimal?
[I've temporarily (hopefully) lost use of my USB ports on my computer and I can check the installed splash screen but I wanted to work on building one.]

Check the specs for your unit. They will tell you that information. The splash screen is loaded as a picture the in settings, you specify you waant to use an image as your splash screen.

Specs
The specs for your 2597 is 480 X 272 Pixels on the 5" screen.
My 2460LMT has the same specs. My splash screen is 480 X 272 but even at those dimensions it does not cover the entire screen. There is a black bar both on bottom and top, the bottom one is needed since it uses the bottom portion for messages.
I've tried increasing the height size from 272 to 280 but it made no difference in enlarging the top portion black bar. You can try increasing the 272 height larger but I don't believe it will make any difference.

The splash screens that come with the Garmin are all 480 X 232 , they too show the black bars on top and bottom. The width is fine, but the height is short. I suppose it’s a fixed set screen area that the picture must fit into.
All 480 X 232 Jpgs will fill the whole screen when viewing in picture viewer, but when you select one as splash screen and reboot the top is still short, The bottom must have the black bar to display ”Loading Maps”.
What dpi did you use?
300 X 300
Did you have to use a specific name for the custom splash screen?
You can name the jpg whatever you want and put it in the “Pictures” folder to identify what it contains.
I have 3 custom splash screens, I backed up then deleted all the ones that came with the Nuvi, none acceptabl in my opinion.
