POI Info: Parking for the Long Island Greenbelt Trail which crosses Long Island between Sunken Meadow State Park in the north to Heckscher State Park to the south. This 32 mile trail covers varied terrain and passes through many state, county and local parks. Some of this trail is on public roads as well. Me being not the most fit of fellows found this trail to not be much of a challenge (done over several sectional round trips in late 2013). The northern half by far is the more difficult section, but at your own pace, anyone should be able to tackle it. This POI file contains 23 parking areas and the locations of the north and south ends of the trail from my own GPS unit.

Enjoy

About: Long Island Greenbelt Trail: Follow the courses of the Nissequogue and Connetquot rivers on all or part of a 32-mile adventure from Long Island Sound to Great South Bay. Bluffs and beaches, ponds and pines, history and diversity - this National Recreation Trail has it all. Pass through spectacular Sunken Meadow, Caleb Smith, Connetquot and Heckscher State parks, and traverse the Ronkonkoma Moraine - and stop in to visit us in our office at Blydenburgh County Park. Hikers have been enjoying this true cross-section of Long Island since 1978.
