This is regarding Garmin POI Loader.
There's a "Alert Setting" box that allows you choose from speed or distance. (see https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-d7vyNbLlZmQ/UnsKnz8O04I/A...)
If I chose speed alert, at what DISTANCE the alert will be triggered? For example, if I set the alert speed = 0 and my driving speed is greater than 0, how far away the alert will be triggered?
I did some research.
This thread (http://www.poi-factory.com/node/22514) was saying 36 seconds. But this article (http://brillharts.com/GarminAlerts/) was saying 11 seconds.
Which one is correct?
Thanks!
according to POI help file
Prompt Distance = 36 seconds * Speed.
where speed is the speed limit in the file.
So unless you are going 100 in a 25 you should have plenty of warning to slow down.
HOWEVER, there are still quite a few locations in the SPEED file that have ??? instead of a speed. I wonder when these will get fixed?
I never get lost, but I do explore new territory every now and then.
I suggest POI Factory use
I suggest POI Factory use Google Street View. You can always find the speed limit sign in street view.
Garmin DriveLuxe 51 LTM-S
hmmm
I would suggest that using Google street view is not always up-to-date. In fact, if I Google street view my house I can see it is late 2011. I can tell from some yard work that was in progress at the time.
Better to have members open the file and see if any of these unspecified locations are in their area and report the speed limit to the POI Factory so they can be corrected.
