Junction View (make it last longer?)

Love the Junction View. Problem I have is that it comes on 1/2 mile before the junction and only lasts a few seconds. Is there any way to make it last longer.
Nope,
The junction view feature is not configurable.

AFAIK, there is no way to specify how long the junction view appears on the screen.
On my 2595 it pops up at 1.3 km before the junction, and remains for about 50 seconds. If there are two junctions very close to each other, the second junction will only appear briefly.

If I read your sig correctly you have a Nuvi that displays the Junction View full screen (the view displays OVER the map so that the map isn't visible while the view is on the screen). If that is correct then you will have to live with the brief display of the view. This is done because Garmin wants to display the map for you as quickly as possible after the view is displayed.
Newer model Nuvi use split screen views which allow the view to be present on half the screen while the map is displayed on the other half. In these cases the view remains on the screen for much longer and normally until your into the maneuver shown in the view.

Garmin should have made it optional in the menu to change the view time.
I disagree, but the point is
I disagree, but the point is also moot. Garmin no longer makes units with full-screen junction view: they all have split screen views, IIRC.

Split Screen
On my Nuvi 50LM Junction View (split screen) displays about 1 mile before the exit and the full map returns just as you enter the ramp. As I understand it there are 2 Junction View files available for each map update. One for full screen and one for split screen. Has anyone tried to use the split screen (smaller of the 2) on an older Nuvi? And if so, is there any display time difference from split to full?

Should it then last longer? Might that not obscure the next turn if it is an unfamiliar area, and one with many possible turns?

The full screen JCV file that Garmin has made available with each map update for awhile now is a downloadable file which can be used on devices that don't get the regular full screen file with the map update, because of limited internal storage space.
This downloaded file can be used for 2 things:
1. To replace the provided full screen file as noted above
2. To replace the split screen file on a newer Nuvi that receives the split screen file by default.
The split screen file is received as part of the map update process (not available by separate download) and will only work on devices that support split screen junction views. AFAIK, placing a split screen JCV file on an older device that only supports full screen views will result in NO views being displayed.

Split screen views do work
Split screen views do work in a full screen unit, as I discovered when we were looking for alternatives to the 50MB file Garmin gave out; before Garmin provided the full file. The image gets stretched and thus distorted. The reverse reportedly is also true, that the full screen file works in units that have split screen views.
This may not apply to the 2013 line of devices, and definitely does not apply to the 3x, 4x, and 5x units with basic junction view.

Don't Remember
I have a nuvi 50LM and can't for the life of me recall if it's split screen or full. I think it's split.
I LOVE the Junction Views!
1490 full screen
to recall the junction view, tap the green bar. That brings up the turn by turn page. Tap the maneuver on the top. The active JCV appears again. This action can be repeated more than once.

Junction View
Thanks for very informative comments. I have a Nuvi 755 and love the feature but it often returns to map screen before I can use the info it gives. Maybe a note to Garmin might help.
Depends on unit
On my 1390 the junction view is only on for a few seconds. Way too short and easily missed. But, on my 2595 with the split screen it stays on for a good long time.
