4 MPH speed alert

I just returned from a trip out to New England. 2 messages popped up on my Garmin 1450 that I never have seen before. They started in Kennebunkport, ME. The first said "4 MPH speed alert ahead." The second said "4 MPH speed alert." I had them pop up later in other small towns in ME, NH and VT. After leaving VT I never had them again in NY, PA, OH etc. I might add that not 1 time was I going over the posted speed limit. Very annoying. They stayed on the screen for about 15-20 seconds. Anybody had these and how do I stop them?

Thanks everybody that responded. I think I found the issue. I downloaded 2 POI files that had a number in the file name. 1st one was "Maine Hotels - Highly Rated". Opening the POI file it actually is called "Maine Hotels - 4 stars plus.csv". The same with the New Hampshire POI. I changed the #4 to the spelling "four". I doubt I will be going back to New England soon so it won't be an issue in the future.
PS: shouldn't this be an instruction to all that create POI files on here?

Sounds

Sounds like you may have Speed Limit camera POIs (either Garmin's or the ones maintained here) on your GPS and the limit is recorded incorrectly in some New England areas. 4MPH seems to obviously not be a correct speed limit.

If not t92's thought, then....

Do you have any Custom POIs loaded to your nuvi with POI Loader? If so, I bet that one of the CSV or GPX POI files on your computer has the numeral "4" as part of the filename. If so, either remove the "4" or change it to "four," then load the POIs to your nuvi and your 4mph alert should be gone.

My bet is with CraigW

...and if we're right, then there's another bonus

If we're right, another benefit to removing the numeral "4" is that the POI locations that are built into the POI file will have a green "GO" button to allow routing to the POI. With numerals in the filename, the GO button is missing on Custom POIs.

POI Loader help

The source for what Craig is saying is POI Loader Help.

There must be a POI file that you loaded with POI Loader. You did not intend for it to become a speed alert (which is used for speed camera locations). If the filename of the POI file had no numbers, it would have been loaded to work like you want. If the filename has a number, it automatically is loaded as a speed alert.

For example, you load a file called macdonalds4.csv with every MacDonalds location. Every time you drive past a MacDonalds, you will get a 4 mph speed alert.

Same here

I downloaded the "7-Eleven Convenience Stores-USA" file (7-Eleven-US.csv) from POI factory, and I started getting speed warnings every time I passed one of them (about every 3 blocks on Long Island...) When I realized what was happening, I changed the file name to "Seven-Eleven.csv".

None of the New England states have red light or speed cameras as the laws for each state apparently do not permit their presence. So it's almost certainly a file name with "4" in it instead of "four".

Thank Goodness

I had a couple POI Factory files on my GPS on a trip in New England, and had the same Maine Hotel File, and was getting these crazy 4 MPH Speed Limit alerts. I deleted all POI files from the GPS, didn't have the time to find the offending file.

Thanks, this was really annoying.
