My Nuvi 200W is strange on every 9/11

I just noticed that my nuvi is strange, like yesterday, you know it was september 11 memorial day, but at that day, my nuvi is going strange. I had this happened every year on September 11th. What happened is, first of all, my nuvi is slower for (e.g), when I entering the address or finding pois, it respond a lot slower then another day. Second, it keep lost satellite connection, like when I drive highway, the nuvi said exit right and after speeking and few seconds later, it displays that lost, satellite reception. Third, it displays fail to load map or fail to connect to satellite and reboot itself. So first I tried every year was hard reset, but another error message uppear, fail can not reset the device and reboot 2times and come back up. It was warce then last year. So today's morning I try to reset again and it did resetted successfully and come back to normal state. It's kind of funny and strange. Like I said, this is the 3rd time I had this issue. Any ideas?

Sorry

Sorry, but I'm not going to believe this one. confused

It's your choice

It's your choice to believe it or not. It's totally up to you and I'm telling you the truth. I wouldn't post here if you think I'm kidding with you guise, but again, it's your choice.

not buying it either

I'm not buying it either, but if your grammar is any indication it could just be operator error. From your post I was expecting to see that you were somewhere on the other side of the globe, not in Missouri.

Yeah ......

Ignoring the 9/11 BS...

1. The speed decrease is normal. The pirated map you used must be installed to the SD card, and the read speeds from the card are slower than from internal memory.

2. Losing satellite reception is normal. The 200W doesn't store and update ephemeris data like later units, so it will lose signal more often, and take longer to lock on.

3. The device's card slot may be failing or it may just be dirty. It could also be a general problem with the GPS.

Solution: purchase a new GPS with lifetime maps.

No surprise since your first post at the Factory was asking on how to hack your 200W's firmware.

Not to mention this gem on

Not to mention this gem on page 3 of the 2014.20 release thread.

Sense I heard that 2014.20 maps are released, I was kind of excided about it. I downloaded the map from website I'm not quite sure what name was it. Anyway, I successfully downloaded CN North America NT 2014.20 for my nuvi. I extract all files in that folder, but like previous versions of map, I can't see the folder it named City Navigator full North America. Files are all separate. I bought 4GB Toshiba SDHC card for 2014.10 update because full map didn't fit in internal memory. Is there anyway I could make these maps to full one single file. It's okay if can't because I just have to put USA/Canada map which I don't need all territories in North America.

Now, without going into details, I know what he downloaded and how to make it work on the 200W. But I'm not about to help him figure things out despite arguably being one of the people best qualified to do so. Thus, he will have to purchase a new device, just as I am planning on doing later this year.

Can't say it here...

I'm unable to express my thoughts regarding the original post as I feel certain the post would be deleted and I might even be banned for life. Nope, nope, nope. Can't say it here...

I may get smacked by Admins for this but....

why would you do that?

Unless you have a good explanation, I feel that you should be. It is a link to a 1x1 pixel gif, and there is almost never a legitimate reason for posting such a link.

I agree... especially if he pirates the map.

The ONE time I don't check the link before I post... Sorry about that..

Firmware issue?

I gass it's firmware issue because I already have 2014.20 map on my SDHC card. I might just have to update my frimware to latest one and will see what happened naxt year. Seriously, this can never happened in mechanical technology world. Also, I just new to here. It's been about 6weeks now.

200W Firmware

The last update to the firmware was over a year ago, and the only improvement was to allow the GPS to see a second map on the SD card. It didn't fix anything else on a five-year old device, meaning that if this is a firmware issue - which it isn't - it's unlikely to ever be resolved. <sarcasm>Of course, I don't know diddly about the 200W, despite having owned one for nearly four years now.</sarcasm>

The fact of the matter is that nobody on these forums should be helping you with any of your issues, since you prefer to pirate a Garmin map rather than paying for it. Hacking a GPS to add features that weren't originally included is one thing, and something I have openly admitted on the forums as having done to my 1300LM. Pirating a map is something completely different.

Not that

Not that it really matters but the last update to the 200W was in November 2012.

Could I suggest we just let this thread die the natural death that it deserves? confused

I couldn't remember exactly when it was, but I do agree that this thread has run its course.
