test two threads

I am testing to see if I can create two threads which look the same - which someone just recently did.

As I recall, I click "Preview" to check what the post looks like and then, if satisfied, click "Submit"

My feeling is that when I click "Submit" I will get the screen that would let me edit that thread but I would not be able to create another thread.

see http://www.poi-factory.com/node/40977 and http://www.poi-factory.com/node/40978 for the example.

EDIT:
Did not remember this, but when creating content, the "Submit" button give you a screen that has "View" and "Edit" buttons at the top of the post.

Importantly - the "Edit" button (which is where I am right now) has - at the bottom - three buttons: "Preview", "Submit", and "Delete". This means we have a way to undo a post if we are quick enough.

Another thing I did not remember is that there seems to be an ability to - while editing my original post - to "Leave shadow copy". So I guess I could change the Forum in which I was posting and leave a link in the old forum to the new forum.

OK - now I am confused, so let me check this out.

Using my own links above, I find that 40977 is in the Forum "Garmin Talk" and 40978 is in the Forum "Creating POI files". Guess I should have caught that when I first read them.

BUT, in case this confused anyone else as to how it could happen, the "Edit" button at the top of a newly created thread lets you post the same content in multiple threads.

Duplicates.

I think duplicates (threads or individual posts) are often caused by using the browsers back arrow, then either refreshing the old page where you entered the post or resubmitting it in some other way. I have seen this happen in this forum and in some other forums.

Aha - good possibility. I had not thought of that but have been in that situation where I could have created a duplicate, I suppose.
