Alerts only - no voice?

On long trips I'll often mute the guidance voice, but I still want to hear POI alert tones. Anyone know of a way to still get the turn by turn guidance (no voice), and still revieve POI alerts sounds?

red alert only

You just can download the file that you need ,just download the file with out adding downloading the sound, and use poi loader to install them ,or just download them do a COPY and Paste on your poi folder on your garmin or Sd card this way will give you the red alert sound only

This metod of doing the COPY and Paste work on the Redlight and Speed camera .only

I needed to be clearer

Thanks for the thoughts. I'm looking to not have the point to point directions (from "where to") but having all POI alerts...

A workaround

I like to reduce the GPS volume while navigating. So I have very loud wav sounds for red light (Chinese Gong) and speed camera, (Fog Horn).
I am not concerned about my other POI alerts at the reduced volume.
Would this be worth a try for you?

try

Try deselecting the voice. It's possible in some units you can uncheck the voice.

Won't

Thanks - can't uncheck and don't want to go to the bother of changing sound levels, sounds hard -- guess could copy the voice files to my hard drive.

Isn't There

Didn't I read a little while ago about their being a voice file that is just silence, so you can still have a voice active, but not hear anything except other sounds?

If not, it should be

If not, it should be possible to use one of TurboCCC's voice editors to reduce the volume of the voice to zero.

Similar Want

Just a few days ago I was thing that Garmin needed another mode, it would solve this problem also. I want the POI alerts and a plain audio beep of some sort when the Garmin would be giving directions, just to alert me a turn is coming up. I often have the GPS on during trips I have made before but want to know timing and an occasional reminder of upcoming turns. Would keep me from checking the map constantly when I now a turn is close.

Good idea

Reducing the volume of the voice file would be a very good idea - is that easy? Not sure how to do it.

Very easy to use. Just make sure to have a backup of the voice you're editing.
