Garmin 2597 and mp3 POI alerts

Anyone know if the Garmin 2597 has mp3 alerts available? Or do I need to do that funky soe/wav thing?

2597 will not play mp3 see http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25730 for installing wav and sox.exe.

How do I verify that the alerts installed correctly without actually driving to one of these places?

Turn your device on to simulator mode.

Set location near alert. Simulate route past alert-able location. works just like driving there. smile

Wait, there's a set location?!?! I know about simulator mode, but I didn't know I could set my location!

Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus.

In simulator mode (Where to; Extras; Custom POI; All; Select one;) On the map screen there should be a set location button, along with save; Go; and back buttons.

Yes. You will need to be in Simulator mode. Then follow the instructions, p4 of owners manual:
