Nüvi 3597, too low volume! - TTSVoiceEditor fails!

Hi there

I wonder if anyone can help me?
I just bought the new Nüvi 3597 which seems very impressing so far. But the thing is that I drive around in a very noisy open sportscar and simply just want to turn up the volume of my new Garmin 3597 which max volume is far too low and unfortunately not equipped with an external speaker slot (God knows why..!!)

Then I just learned about the TTSVoice Editor, and thought WOW, here it is! Now my problem would be solved right away. But I should soon be disappointed when I realized that it wasn't gonna be that easy, because Garmin seems to constantly alter their language files!

So now it turns out that every time I try to load any TTS based voice into the TTSVoice Editor I get this popup:"Run-time error 9: Subscript out of range". I have tried many TTS based files in different languages, but the problem is present for all the files.

As I understand it, "Mr. Turboccc" is no longer available for support because of some new job which takes all his time...
So would anyone perhaps know of any other alternative fix to turn up the volume level inside these language files?

Did you select the automatic volume control or use the manual setting? This is from Garmin support.

What is Automatic Voluume

Automatic Volume uses ambient noise in the car to determine the appropriate volume level for the device's audio. To enable Automatic Volume:

1. Touch Volume on the main menu 2. Touch the wrench icon in the upper-left 3. Touch Automatic Volume Some devices will require you to select Enabled or Disabled then Save

4. Touch and hold the back button to return to the main menu

The device will now automatically adjust the volume as needed based on ambient noise. Repeat the above steps to disable Automatic Volume and adjust volume levels manually.

Automatic volume is available on Bluetooth-capable models in the following series:

nuvi 2405 series nuvi 2407 series nuvi 2408 series nuvi 2505 series nuvi 2507 series nuvi 2508 series nuvi 2707 series nuvi 2708 series nuvi 3400 series nuvi 3500 series nuvi 3507 series nuvi 3508 series dezl 760 RV 760

.

Hard to believe Garmin still hasn't added bluetooth speaker capabilities to the Nuvi line. The weak speaker has been an issue since day one.

.

The new voices are different than those of previous models.

That's why TTS Editor doesn't work.

I don't think Garmin ever

I don't think Garmin ever considered open sports cars. I have my old Nuvi 765 which has FM transmitter which can be tuned into your car FM radio then volume is not an issue but it is not available anymore.

Thanks! smile

And thanks for all your kind answers here!
I wasn't notified through mail of any answers, so I didn't no until now.

I know about the automatic volume control - I tried both the manual and the automatic, still insufficient volume! Can't hear a bloody thing either way. How can these Garmin developers be so narrow-minded in such a costly development process?!! We are talking basics here!

I cross my fingers that someone soon will be able to hack into these new voices! Otherwise I guess I'll have no other alternative than return the thing.
Just before the TTSEditor crashed I could see that the volume was set to 80 - which means that there's still 20 to go!

The 3597 has bluetooth facility for connecting to mobile phones.
How could that solve my problem?

That's exactly what I used to do with my old 660FM!
But the "clever" developers dropped out the AUX slot on this 3597..!

Cheers, Morten

what they need is to come up

what they need is to come up with something like this that just slides behind the unit and redirects to speaker forward
