I was curious if your environment was similar; letting Garmin know would be good too. Hopefully it would help to find a solution.

Google Maps was upgraded to 7.4.0 yesterday (Nov 7) for "bug fixes". I won't be able to test until I get home on the weekend.

I tested new Google maps, it is still the same.

Think I will stay away from Smarphone App till they get it perfected.

Well, it works fine for traffic and weather. It is just sending a link from Google Maps to Garmin device does not work. As a workaround you can search with the app and address and send it to your Garmin. That feature still works.

Is there any way to use the phone itself for calls (using a BT headset) while using the SmartPhone app? I would like to be able to send addresses but don't want to answer the phone using the Nuvi.

Yes, you can. You have

I do this all the time with my Nuvi 2798LMT - I turn Bluetooth on, pair it, but then go to apps, smartphone, and uncheck the Phone option. it still sends traffic data from the phone but phone calls won't come through on the Nuvi - that's a joke anyway because the mic is so cheap and far away (with no external mic input like some of the older Nuvi models had) that it's virtually useless in my opinion. One other thing - I find that sometimes you have to go back in and uncheck the phone option as it selects it again for no reason. I've reported this bug to Garmin and have seen it on the 2797 and 2798 models.
