Keeping the Windmill Alive - Your last trip? – June 2013

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.)

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Rome!

I posted an update to Waze on Sunday -- from Rome (Italy) near Vatican City, where the streets were clogged with Harleys! Part of HD's 110th anniversary celebration. Thousands of Harleys parked in the square leading up to St. Peter's.

Bring me back some cheddar or pepperjack. grin

Last trip was to upstate N.Y. with the truck camper. The cig lighter end on my 795T broke off while plugged in, and blew the fuse. A spare fuse and CoPilot app on my tablet got me by, and I'm not sure if I'll even try to fix the Nuvi. The tablet sits nicely on the dash cupholders and is big enough for my fat fingers and old eyes. What's not to like??

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

Hawaii

In Hawaii my lady on the car dash was very reliable. In Bay Area of CA small problem, I forgot to change 'avoid tolls'. She's always with me now.

Traffic test

Sunday was the first time I put my Nuvi 2595 to the test for traffic info. Traffic was as heavy on the interstate as it could possibly be and still maintain the speed limit. The Nuvi said "No traffic". Ran into a backup along the way, no warning from Nuvi. Was able to exit the interstate and bypass the backup, guessing where it ended. No help from Nuvi.

Pittsburgh

East Tennessee to Pittsburgh and back last week. Garmin was essential in the metro area. Would have got lost without it. It routed me home in a different route than to Pittsburgh, but the scenic drive was OK.

Saw the "Lumpy Mr. Rogers" statue. He looks demented. NOT pretty.

Children's Museum (Great if you are a child).
Zoo & Aquarium. (Shoddy, not worth going).
Carnegie Science Museum (Great no matter what age)

Did the Ducky Tours a couple of years ago (Very good), but too hot this time.

Humble, Tx to Pampa, Tx

My wife made this trip (600 mi) and used my 765T for her first time using a GPS (had a paper map backup).

Got her where she needed to go and to other locations once she got to Pampa. She loved it!!!.

I didn't like it as I now don't own my trusty 765T any longer. sad

I get confused about the whole 3 weeks in 5 weeks thing. Could somebody explain more!

Sure , no problem. Divide 52 weeks by 12. That will give you the number of hours in the Mayan calendar.

divide that by your age minus the number of stars under your name and take the square root of PI then multiply that times the model number of your GPS and that will give you the number of times you must post something of interest to at least 76 of us in a nano-second. Easy P easy.

I've been feeling puny lately

So we drove around today looking at the crops. Last month we had several severe thunderstorms with lots of rain. Many fields have had the low spots flooded and now replanted. It will be interesting to re-visit near harvest time...I marked a spot on gps where corn is already 5 1/2 feet tall.

Walt Disney World and Universal Studios

Just got back from Orlando. My Nuvi performed okay, in general, but had issues when trying to go to different areas within Disney's property. For instance, going from my hotel (on property) to a theme park, the Nuvi kept trying to route me through other hotel areas. I finally gave up and started using the signs at Disney World to navigate between the different parks and other areas. Same thing happened at Universal.
