New Orleans GPS Question...

Just returned from New Orleans...took the 1490...other than showing me driving in the weeds half a dozen times and sending me on some r3tarded routes...it was okay...except in NOLA proper...simply would not catch a signal...recalculating over and over when it did...firmware is up to date ... Happened in no other city...maps are 2011.something but that shouldn't matter. I've been to NOLA several times and the streets are the same since about 1803...anyone else have this problem in NOLA? Causes? TIA

NOLA

I have been there several times and the only time I had a problem (and it realy was not bad) was driving back to Tampa. They started up the new bridge on US10 and my GPS was showing my car in the water next to the bridge.
After I updated my maps I was back on the road.

No issues here

I was in New Orleans about 2-3 weeks ago, was in the French Quarter, Metairie etc... and the roads and reception worked well. I have a 2595 LMT, and did not experience the issues you have described. Weird thing to have happen.

If your GPS is not right on the money try this one.

Metairie

I have the same problem with my Nuvi 52... doesn't calculate routes correctly... weird. Bricked my old GPS doing an update...

NOLA

Was there in mid April, both my 855 and my 3790 had no problem.

No problem with my Android App

In early May I spent over a week in New Orleans. I was staying at a hotel on Canal Street, not far from the river, and most of my time was spent in the general area of the French Quarter. The TomTom Android app on my phone had no problems on the occasions when I used it, which was mostly while walking in that area, although I did use it between the airport and the hotel.

With best wishes,

Heading to NOLA This Week

I am heading to New Orleans this week, so thanks for the timely warning. I will let you know what I experience.

I live in the New Orleans area...

and I have never had that problem. I have a 765t.

Another Area Resident Chiming In

Closest I've ever seen to the OP's symptoms on my 755t was several updates ago, where routes over elevated roadways appeared offset from the actual highway. That's when I decided to take the advice to perform a factory reset after each map update, and I've never had the issue again since.

Never GPSed The Big Easy

I never drove in N'awlins with a GPS, but I had this same issue in Baltimore. It was like the GPS was possessed within a 10-square-mile area of the city limits. Weirdness.
