Has anyone tried the European maps for the Android? I'm thinking about getting them, but wanted to hear from actual users.
I have never seen the TomTom maps of Europe for their Android app or for their dedicated GPS devices. However, from my casual comparison it appears to me that their Android maps of the US seem to be the same as the maps for their dedicated GPS devices, so I *assume* that the same will be true in Europe.
Since I have read that TomTom is the largest seller of GPS hardware in Europe, I *assume* that their European maps are at least competitive. I have seen occasional gripes on the web about errors in their European map data, but no more than I have seen for other GPS manufacturers.
With best wishes,

I bought the European maps and used them on my last trip to Norway. I do not have international cellphone access, so I just used the GPS function. I was traveling with a friend who had rented a TomTom, so I compared the two units. There were some minor differences, such as where the center of a town was located, but otherwise the Android app performed as expected. I was also pleased with the POI database. All of the small restaurants, hotels, parking lots, etc., I searched for were there. The routing was good, as were the ETAs.
Thanx for the good news update.
I recently tried the TomTom European maps app in Turkey. As advertised, it was not a complete set, but I was impressed by how much was covered. Basically, city-to-city was not a problem, even when the "city" was a very small town. Within cities, the major roads were covered, but if you had to take a detour, it looked like the map was there, just not useable.
All-in-all, it was very helpful and I'm glad I got the European maps.
The map coverage in Turkey was better than I thought. I did not have any problem finding any of the hotels I was staying in and all of the restaurants I wanted were available. Pretty good for "limited coverage."
I just got the version 910.4963 update.
