nuvi 24x5 and 25x5 (GCD File) software version 7.80

Looks like this has been out for a few days. It's probably available for similar units as well.

Changes made from version 7.70 to 7.80:
Fixed an error that caused demo mode to work improperly.

Also for nuvi 35XX series

It has also been released for the nuvi 35XX series. Remeber to do a back-up first.

No problems

I updated my 2595 yesterday, from the factory version (6.2 I think). Lots of bug fixes. No problems. Didn't notice either of my GTMs being updated.

OK, I'll admit that I'm an easy pushover for new FW updates/releases... even ones like this that seem useless. (Fixed a bug that caused demo mode to work improperly??? Who cares?) It's the long history of "Miscellaneaous bug fixes" we always see that hooks me. So even though there's no mention of these for v7.80, I strongly suspect there's a few in there. :^)

That's how I feel

Maybe there are miscellaneous bug fixes that aren't documented. Hopefully no errors are introduced.

Progress

>>>Maybe there are miscellaneous bug fixes that aren't documented. Hopefully no errors are introduced.<<<

I went through a long history of updates with my previous 255. My experience with that unit was the initial releases introduced a few added glitches, but over time that stopped being a problem. The same holds true for my 2595. I purchased it when they first came out, (beta tester) ;^) and the difference between then and now for this unit is amazing. The performance is several orders of magnitude better (especially the search functions) and the "new-glitch-intro" problem with every new release seems to have ceased.

I agree with the demo mode... not to mention at least on the 2455LMT if you put it into demo mode a warning pops up telling you that all favorites will be deleted...

An Example of "misc bug" fix

One thing that REALLY annoyed me when I first got the 2595 was the way it displayed streets along the route of travel: only streets on the -opposite- side from you were shown (to your left as you motored along). This may not bother some, but it bugged the heck out of me. At some point, one of the FW updates changed this and now the unit displays side streets on both sides of the road as you travel along. A -very- useful "misc bug fix" since it was never specifically called out on the list of changes shown for the release. I also like the change which returned the top line display to the street you are on instead of the next upcoming side street. It's still a little glitchy as for some reason the unit just seems to show "Road" whenever you are on a major numbered route.

The issues with GTM60 in V7.5/7.6/7.7 still there

I was hoping that the issues with GTM60 is among the "misc fixes" with this firmware release, no such luck. Sticking with V7.20

For more on the issues with GTM60, see my post in this thread:

Oh No

We lost the Upcoming Road again?!?! I'll have to check that. I didn't notice. I love that feature.

,

Thanks for the heads up on the update!

Thank you

Updating now.

7.8 on my 2555LMT

The 7.80 software fixed the issues with the GTM60 not picking up traffic unless it was a really strong signal. I have been enjoying having traffic working again for the last few days.

-Dennis

It's still working for me
