Lost Junction View after updating to 2013.4

I have a Nuvi2555LMT

After updating to 2013.4 I lost the Junction View. I see no options in the menu to turn it on or off.

Also, after updating I see both map versions 2013.3 and 2013.4 which appears to be for Alaska showing in My Maps. I added an SD card, could it be that one version is on internal memory and the other is on the SD card? I used Garmin Express for the updates.

Update again

The only thing I would do is update again.
Don't update the same way you did but with another option...Mapupdater is what I use.

Maybe someone who knows a lot more will help you if this doesn't work.

Before updating again

Before updating again, ricrupert, take a look at the files in your nuvi 2555 and tell us whether there's a file with a name along the lines of Dxxxxxxxxx0A.JCV and if there, tell us its name and file size.

Finding this file on your 2555 may require you to switch from MTP mode to Mass Storage mode--and if using a PC, changing some of your computer's Folder Options. So if you can't find a jcv file, come back for further instructions if you need them.

My guess is that the nuvi 2555 should receive a mid-400MB-ish split screen JCV file and that it should display roughly as many Junction Views as you had with the previous map update.

One worry is that you say after your map update to 2013.40, you still see 2013.30 and 2013.40 offered by your nuvi. If the jcv file kept is the one for 2013.30 and you're using the 2013.40 map or vice versa, that will result in no JVs being shown. But before reinstalling 2013.40, we need to know why your device kept all or parts of the previous map. What process did you use to update to the current map: Garmin Express? MapUpdater? Lifetime Updater? or ???

Junction View

I'm a little confused about your maps.
When your Nuvi is connected to the computer, is there a gmapprom.img file on your nuvi and another .img file on your SD card?
Are you saying you have 2013.30 on the Nuvi and a map of Alaska (2013.40) on the SD card?

When you go to Tools>Settings>Map Info, what maps are showing with the SD card inserted?

If junction view is not working you may have two .JCV files present. one on the Nuvi and the other on the SD card. The Nuvi will only recognize ONE, and it MUST correspond with the distinct map version.

I'm assuming your 2555 uses the split screen jcv file, if that is true the correct junction view file for the 2013.40 map is D3191080A.jcv (458,794 KB).

If that file is present on either the SD card or Nuvi, copy the one that is DIFFERENT to your PC as a backup just in case, then delete that DIFFERENT jcv file from it's location.

Problem solved

I thought I would try it again. Before Garmin Express said there was not enough room for the full map update so I added the SD card. When download was done the map version showed 2013.3 and version 2013.4 Alaska regions. So, this morning I decided to try it one more time with the SD card removed. When I plugged the USB in Garmin Express booted up and did an update check, then proceeded to download and install the 2013.4 North America complete map. When done, I now have 2013.4 showing for installed map version, and the junction view has returned.

So tell me what happened. I have never had any problems with updates either with this unit or with my old c550. I was able to update the c550 with the edition of a 2 gig SD card.

Thanks for everyone's input?

Garmin Express Needs Fix

I'm not fond about Garmin Express and have deleted it until I'm confident they sorted out the bugs.

I continue to use Mapupdater without issues, I suspect Garmin Express was the culprit.

Great news

Fantastic. The only thing better than hearing "Problem solved" is hearing "Problem solved with an explanation" and you've done both!

My guess right now is that Garmin Express, still in its infancy, is at fault for your initial problem. [Update: as so aptly put by muell9k... a bit faster than me on the keyboard wink ]

Garmin Lifetime Updater

I always use Garmin Lifetime Updater for map upgrades, I have no problems using this software.

Garmin Lifetime Updater

I used Garmin Lifetime Updater to update to the recent maps which it did, but it would still keep telling me that there was an update to my maps even though I updated my 765. I installed Garmin Express and it did it's thing and now all seems OK.

Garmin Express

Maybe it is just moody. grin

Lifetime Updater

I used Lifetime updater and it miscalculated the space available on my nuvi and directed me to install maps on my SD card, even though there was plenty of room on the nuvi. Thanks to the help of this forum I got the maps to install onto the nuvi using mapupdater.

Never had problems with lifetime updater until this update.

Me too ...

My Updater also forgets that we already updated ... I think that I will try the Express ... but thanks to you all, I will do it knowing that I need to keep an eye on it!

Time for an update!
