Crow Flies Favorites

It took me a while to realize it, but when you look at your list of Favorites, the miles shown are "as the crow flies", NOT driving miles. You only get the driving miles after you select the favorite and the unit "calculates route" or words to that effect. Not a huge issue, but worth noting.

Indeed

This fools a lot of people

Crow Flies

Primarily it reduces the computation workload. Imagine calculating the route for all points displayed

There may be some help offered here:

[Edit] Whoops, sorry, I see you already know about the above thread.

Miles vs Miles to Favorites

Calculating route miles to all favorites would be quite the task. When I select a specific destination, before telling it to route, my nulink 1695 does calculate driving miles for reference.

By the way, my coined phrases to distinguish the types of miles I'm talking about are "crow-miles" vs "driving miles".

Crow Flies

Who says a crow flies in a straight line? Why not say "as a straight line". Why bring a crow into the picture?
