Hello from miss poi

I want to say hello and thanks to all the people that have registered here at the POI Factory since we converted to our new web software.

I am really excited about this opportunity to help others and meet people from all over the US. I think that having these discussion forums will make this site more fun and exciting for all.

I hope we can build a active community here. My friends just don’t understand my obsession with GPS stuff, but I know that you all understand, so lets share some coordinates.

miss poi

Yes my corny personality will grow on you. I have been told that I am a few degrees off center.

Hello from Miss Poi---October 6, 2006

Well Miss POI…

I don’t know if you are still a few degrees off center.
But whatever it is, it’s working.
I bet back in October of 2006 you couldn’t imagine your POI Factory would grow to what it is today.

Here’s to a Job well done. smile smile

State Line POI

Miss POI,
Would you know if there is a POI available that would identify all state line crossing locations? My kids are always interested in finding signs for a new state whether we are on the Interstate routes or on local roads. Does such a POI item exist?

Re: Hello From Miss Poi...

Hi MaryAnn & Jon,

What you created is a phenomenal success, not to mention the 137,000 plus members that, thanks to you, teach, share and learn and help each other daily.

I can't thank you enough for your vision "and" your perseverance. It's a humongous job, but you handle it with equal parts of wisdom, patience and humor.

I tip my hat to you...

Warmest regards,

tailspin

POI Factory

Thanks for providing such a wonderful site!

This is truly a community of interest...

In my day job, I consult in a little known area called knowledge management. What KM tries to mimic is exactly what POI Factory members already do. In fact, I blogged about just that last week in my company blog. Here's a link to it: http://kmedge.org/2009/01/knowledge-management-in-2009.html.

I hope that Miss POI will let the link stand, as I'm not selling anything there--except maybe POI Factory! And since I'm the author, I even have permission to publicize the blog. So I hope anyone that reads it will take it in the spirit in which it was intended--as a nod to everyone that makes POI Factory such a neat place!

Wow Great article, thanks for highlighting our community.

I want to clarify on the icons a bit. You get your compass icon when you have contributed a icon, sound or location or sets of locations in the form of a POI File.

Your windmill shows up when you have had active participation in 3 of the last 5 weeks and your General Maintainer badge shows up when you have been active in 9 of the last 26 weeks.

You can have any of these icons at any given time, you don't have to get one before the other.

And don't forget the "COY." MM is getting quite a nice and well deserved collection of plants on her windowsill.

Thanks for all you and your team does . .

It's obvious that when you started this thing, you programmed the right avoidance settings, and did an excellent job navigating to success.

Those of us that have benefited from your commitment, and hard work extend a terrific thank you; to you and your team and we look forward to seeing poi-factory achieve even higher levels of success.

another thank you

For one reason or another I've not been able to be as active on here as I once was, I do still visit from time to time to see what's new though. I received and email from a user asking me to update a couple of motocross files, I've done that and posted them here.

I just wanted to take a second to thank Miss Poi for sharing her "obsession" and setting up POI Factory, it is always a pleasure to come here and look at the information available to all GPS users.

Donja

Dontja just love folks a little off center? That’s what makes this place fun and makes it grow. Lots of good stuff comes out of these discussions. Lots of good points, good places and such. Gps is not something for everyone, but for those of us who are really into it, we’re definitely off center! Congrats, miss Poi, keep up the great work!

new & looking forward to contributing

I ran across this site while trying to figure out how to get more out of my GPS. I updated my Garmin map thinking that would give me more new locations, resturants, etc. but it failed to meet my expectation. However, this site is great. While saving some of the POI files, I started thinking of all the files I could contribute. Fun!!

Thank you for a terrific website and for all you (and John) do everyday to maintain the standard of excellence. I believe this site reflects the the leadership, and you guys are creative, nurturing and friendly leaders. You embraced me and made me feel welcome here...even dubbed me the "Voice of POI Factory"

Thank you Miss POI, I have learned and gained so much from this site. smile

Another voice from NE Ohio

Just to add to what has already been said. Thanks.

Had a new experience on my last trip. The state of North Carolina just opened up a 17 mile stretch of the new 4 lane 220. This is to become I73/74 at some time in the future. It was just a ball to watch my 225W try to get me back to the old road. It must have recalculated about once every 20 seconds for 17 miles. The blue line went where no road was.

State Parks

This file only has the chain name and the coordinates. Please send a note to Miss POI if you are interested in improving the file by adding addresses and phone numbers.

Please send me the above. Also would like to know where to go for instructions on downloading to my "ZUMO-450"

Thank You in advance,

I ride a Harley Ultra Classic and have a F-350 Truck to pull my 5th Wheel and swivel wheel bike trailer. So then my Harley is always with me. Wally

Thank you!

I'm new to the site and the forum but it's clearly something special. Thanks for everything!

THANK YOU to Miss POI and everyone here who helps make this board a great resource for GPS knowledge.

And yet another North Ohio shout out...

Thanks for creating this site and a cool place for all of us to come and hang.

I've played in bands for years and this place reminds me of a great big jam session, where every one that wants to plan can.

It's all working together that makes this a great place to come and spend time, and it wouldn't be possible without your vision, Miss POI, so thanks again!
