Transfer favorites from 255 & 780 to 2590 & 3590

My two units have broke. I can connect to the 255W and I have a backup from the 780 which has a broken touch screen and gets hung up on the map update screen. I've followed the instructions on the garmin site (which I alse searched and found here too). The instructions say to copy the current GPX file to the new unit renamed to current1.gpx or temp1.gpx. But this does not work. I have made sure to turn the unit off not just standby. Help what do I need to do?

I don't know if it makes a difference but....
The instructions say to save to the PC, rename it, and then send back to the Nuvi.

I just received a notice today from it that all my devices have updates. From what I've seen so far, I'm being given the choice to install a half dozen more cutesy non-TTS voices beyond the original squirrel. I'm tempted to uninstall the software and continue to get my update news from folks here at The Factory.

The current1.gpx must be put in the \Garmin\GPX\ folder on the receiving unit. Is that where you copied it?
Got one transfered
I put the current1 gpx file in the garmin/gpx folder where the current.gpx file is located but it did not work for some reason. I went into base came and exported the favorites to the PC then connected the 2590 and placed the exported file into the same location. This time it worked. I had all the favorites but it has the name 1-13-13 export. Is there any way to change the name on the device or should I delete and then reinstall with a new name?
