Transfer favorites from 780 with broken screen

The screen on my 780 broke. When the unit comes up it boots up and says loading maps then it goes to the "map update screen" I can't get past the map update screen because I when I press the 'OK" button on the screen it doesn't work because the screen is broke. Does anyone know of a way to get past this so I can get to the unit connected to the PC to pull off the favorites.

What happens when ...

you connect the unit the unit to your PC with the 780 turned off?

See if the PC will recognize it. If it will then just act like it is an external disk drive.

don't turn it on

What happen if you don't turn on GPS but plug it into computer when it is off? Will it show this map update confirmation screen as well? If not you don't need to touch device to transfer data from or to it.

If this will not work, probably only way to deal with it is to send it to Garmin. But in this case favorites probably will be lost, and you will have reason to do backup of new device before something happen to it.

.

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to do something that does not require you to turn on the unit. Turn it off, plug it into the computer and let it boot. Everything you need should pop up in windows explorer.

doesn't matter if unit is

doesn't matter if unit is off or on. When I plugin the usb cable with unit off the units turns on and goes to the map update nag screen. With the unit on it can't get past the screen either. Since it can't get past the screen it does not make it to the point where itr connects to computer.

Yep had that before, with my 765T. Had to get rid of it. Try another cable. Cross your fingers. Can you do a hard reset?
