Garmin Nuvi-- Drifting Waypoints....

Since downloading the latest US maps to my auto Nuvi 1450, I am finding that many of my saved "waypoints" have "drifted" somewhat. A waypoint that previously was always at a certain intersection or curb, is now displaced by as much as 50-100 ft.

Has anyone also noted this odd change and if so, what is causing it....?

I have not read that the govern. has turned down the GPS signal accuracy lately.....

which maps?

Which maps are you using? How are you "measuring" the drift? It's not too uncommon for the map registration for any particular tile to shift, but if the entire map is off, then try a hard reset of the unit and check again.

Waypoints may drift a little

I talked with a survey crew about GPS surveying. He said that "reference points" that he had set, move around too much to be used. He mentioned up to two feet though. And that is over a few years.
Before the next map upgrade, I am going to set up a few waypoints just to see if they change from 2013.30 to 2013.40.
And welcome to the forum

Every inch of road way is not mapped with coordinates. There are line segments of varing lengths. If one of the end points for those segments is adjusted or the software that creates the map data recalculates the road segments things can seem to move. Now being off by 100ft is pretty bad. You can see examples of this on google maps with the sat. and map/road views on simaltainously.

Good observation

I use Mapsource to get specific coordinates and then program them into my GPS to create a waypoint. I just looked at one of my waypoints and noticed as you have that with the latest mapset it did drift somewhat. Interesting, thanks for sharing your observation with us.
