Garmin Nuvi 1450 LMT (NO DATA AVAILABLE)

My gps is less than a year old. Last week while traveling I received a message that I had to use www.mapupdater. I pressed "ok". However, I was then unable to get my gps to navigate any of my chosen routes. Upon returning from vacation, I went online and hooked my GPS up to USB and performed all the steps. It completed the update to my "computer" and said there are no new maps available at this time. I disconnected my GPS and followed the directions for starting it back up. My GPS now says NO DATA AVAILABLE! It appears to be wiped CLEAN (as in NOTHInG) is now on it. No maps, no history, NOTHING! Any suggestions? I know the friend that gave this gift paid a premium price for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many years ago....my parents nicknamed me Christopher Columbus bc I find a "new way" each time I pull out of my driveway. My kids on the other hand say " great, Moms LOST again! Haha

Two thoughts to start you out

Welcome to The Factory, Meg.

We may need to go deeper into this, but this is what I suggest first:

1) Check your nuvi's MapInfo page (possibly tap Tools/Settings/Map/MapInfo or Tools/Settings/myMaps). Tell us what you see. Ideally you will see City Navigator and it'll be checked. If it isn't checked, just check it and all may be well again.

2) Once you've started to update a map, Garmin's web sites and software seems to think you have that map, even when the update failed. What you need to do in this case is to reinstall the map update. With your nuvi connected to your computer, log into myGarmin:

https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/login.htm?service=https%3A%2F...

then tab over to myMaps. You should see your GPS listed and there should be a button to let you reinstall the current map. Make sure that you select either the default Install to Device or choose Install to Device and Computer.

3) I'm guessing that you're using Garmin's LifetimeUpdater software. Many here will suggest you uninstall Lifetime Updater from your computer and always use myGarmin to update maps manually. If you do follow this thought, keep in mind that the final step of a map update is to install the Garmin-recommended Lifetime Updater. You will need to manually deselect the Lifetime Updater as you complete the map update.

Shout back with further questions or your success.

Same problem.

Just before Christmas I updated my 1490LMT and told it to update to the card. I was preoccupied with other seasonal things so I never checked if everything was OK. The day after New Year I needed to use my Ecoroute HD because the car dashboard came up with a notice to take to dealer because of a problem. Error code was radiator. Bought Antifreeze and solved the problem.
The Garmin told me that the traffic data was missing and to download it from Garmin. I then checked the "Where to" data and all of that was missing.
I then took out the memory card went to the website and reloaded the map and now have all information.
