Jill 3.10 works with EPE!!!!!

Yeah. There is a new Jill (3.10). She appears to work with EPE. Recalculating is gone again.

Thank you

Thanks. Yes indeed, there's a new Jill:

Changes from version 3.00 to version 3.10:
Corrected issue with volume level on some devices.

There are no other new English language voice updates, just Jill.

.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Gotta love her

Gotta love her ... I mean Gotta love the fact 3.1 works with EPE.

Ok, I admit it ... I love Jill. (Hope my wife's not reading this forum).

Thanks for the update!

I'm timid

My version 2.7.1 works great on both my devices. Do you think I should try the 3.10?

great, but

I'm really an Emily fan, which I have modified to get rid of certain annoying sayings like "recalculating". The modified version I call "Emma".

Jill 3.10

Where can I find this file? I don't see it as a voice on the Garmin web-site.

Thanks for the update. Jill

Thanks for the update.

Jill is awesome but Robin is also good on my Android phone.

WebUpdater

It'll be offered through WebUpdater to GPS devices that can use Jill:

http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

For devices that currently have a Samantha voice, I believe that Jill will not be offered. Garmin devices use a couple of voice engines and only the devices with the higher quality engine can use Jill. If your 465T has the better engine, WebUpdater will alert you to the update and let you download/install it.

Jill

I use the Jill that does not say recalculating.
Did the new update put this back in? If so I won't get it.

The first post here says it's gone. I haven't confirmed it.

Recalculating appears to be back

I download the Jill 3.10 version and opened it with TurboCCC's TTS Voice Editor. Recalculating is item #67 in the speech file.

I have not taken my unit for a test drive so I can't confirm whether or not the TTS speech engine actually use the word. I will do so later today.

Of course, you can always use the Voice Editor to change "Recalculating" to your phrase of choice. Mine is "Oh, O.K."

Changelog from 3.0 to 3.10
Corrected issue with volume level on some devices.

The newer Garmin models no longer have recalculating feature. For those with older units that have the recalculating feature, version 3.10 will restore the ability to use TTL Voice Editor to change the recalculating message.

Garmin changed something in Jill Ver 3.0 and TTL Voice Editor only displayed garbled text that could not be revised. Version 3.10 fixed that (confirmed) it works properly as does ver 2.90.

In summary, if your Nuvi model never had the option to say recalculating, it never will regardless of what voice version you use.
For those with older units that had recalculating, you now again have the option to use TTL Voice Editor to change messages by using WeUpdater to get ver 3.10.

I have no idea what Garmin did to cause Ver 3.0 not to work with the Voice Editor.

Nuvi 2460LMT 2 Units

Model specific.

The "Recalculating" announcement was removed from the software on some of the newer model nuvi's. It is dependent on your nuvi model, not on the voice file you use. Of course, if you have an older nuvi that announces "recalculating" you can use the Voice Editor to change it to something else, but if your nuvi model does not announce recalculating, changing or updating the voice will not change that.

Jill sounds like R2D2

I tried that new Jill voice. It sounds like Stephen Hawking. Karen has a more human sound to me.

Thanks for the info, muell9k! Also, Thanks to Alandb!

I have a 3760 and am really glad to have the option to use TTS Voice Editor again with Jill. I never updated to Jill 3.0 because that version of her voice could not be edited.

I did not know the newer units did not have the recalculating feature. Does this also mean their TTS voices cannot be edited at all?

(edited to add thanks to alandb)

Yes, you can use Voice Editor.

If I recall correctly (from reading other posts) the 37xx series does announce "recalculating". I think it is the 34xx/35xx (and some others) that don't. But even if your model doesn't announce recalculating, you can still use the Voice Editor to alter other announcements. With these models, you will still find the "recalculating" entry in the voice file. It is just that the software for your unit does not use that entry.

The Jill version 3.10 has resolved the volume level issue on the 2350LMT I have.

...

Thanks for the info.

I use "Aussie" Karen most of the time.Instead of saying recalculating she now says," Aviator, You missed the turn. Get off the damn phone and pay attention". Trying to figure out a way to have her speak with a Texas accent.
