Garmin Map problems?

I am on US 24 westbound and it directs me on the bypass for Fort Wayne and then tells me to exit at exit 324? There is NO exit 324 along there anywhere but I am coming up to exit 124, so I take it and now it directs me to the motel I pre-booked. Correct location.

Next morning I want to go to Columbia, Indiana. The GPS directs me to take US 69 to exit at exit "0" ? Well I reach a point where it now directs me off but it is exit 200 and not "0".

Who and where and to whom do you direct errors which you find.

I should also add this was not just the 3790 but I also had the 855 running simultaneously and both had the same errors. Both have the 2013.20 mapping installed since both have lifetime maps.

I also want to add that none of the POI's I have downloaded from POI Factory and installed on both GPS's at no time show on the screen. I have to go into "Extras" to show them. Exactly the same way as the Garmin POI's.

One can only speculate that something must have happened ...

One can only speculate that something must have happened @ Garmin over the past couple of months. All sorts of problems w/that 2013.20. The holiday season is upon us, the stores will be marketing LMT models and the traffic feature is a sham. I'm not talking rerouting here. Drove from Harrisburg->I78->I81->I80. Received a Yellow warning w/0.01" delay over the Susquehanna then it stayed on @speed w/o traffic (night) for well over 60+ miles. Commuter intense Bergen, Rockland (N.J./N.Y.) counties: same random data. Same problems as you are reporting w/POI. Didn't have either problems w/earlier versions.

But as far as I am concerned those are mere annoyances. The latest OS upgrade (ver 6.0) on the Oregon450 has made that unit unstable & unreliable for any serious hiking/hunting! Have to use a eTrex 30 as backup, which begs the question: "why am I carrying two?"

Is this a management supervision issue? Have all the knowledgeable programers left suddenly? Can they get away for long w/these types of programing problems, product feature advertising? rolleyes

BTW: try going to Garmin's own web site & try communicating directly via email. Yes, they do respond, promptly. You're call whether that will work for you.

Indiana I-69 Renumbered

I-69 in Indiana has been renumbered. Because of an new extension south of Indianapolis, all mile markers/exit numbers have had 200 added to them. This happened just after the 2013.20 update was released. Exit 124 became exit 324 and exit 0 became exit 200, etc.

I know that the rest area POI has been updated, but I don't know about any others.

I hope this helps. I did submit a report to Garmin about the renumbering soon after it happened. We'll have to wait and see if they get it correct with the next update.

Most of the time map is accurate and the exit numbers are not

and it is not Garmin false due to local and state government changing the exit numbers. Always look at your GPS before taking the exit or turn to see if it is correct.

Thank you for the info, it seems as if you know exactly where I am referring to and it explains it quite clearly.

2013.20

I've had no problems with this version, as yet. If anything, it has been more accurate than some of the previous versions. I'm sure there are a few errors in some locations, though. There always are.

Strange

I have been getting strange directions. Not as direct as before the update. It is still getting me to the destination but the route is somewhat circuitous. Also, I am not getting traffic updates. I have been stuck in nonmoving traffic and the traffic icon is green.

could it be?

Could it be Garmin is now getting their maps from Apple?

Notice something strange with the maps this time. The exit I usually take in FL has alway shown the exit number on the screen at top. This time only the road number showed for the exit.Everything else missing that usually shows. Now other exits I had routed to showed the exit numbers like it is suppose to.

Remember ?

Remember the days of free roadmaps at Shell and Gulf and Sinclair gas stations? Nice backup to GPS's gone awry.

Hwy 69 exit 200

Hwy 69 is being extended 200 miles at the south end of Indiana. So they had to update the signs. It may take some time before Garmin catches up.

You can't expect perfection

You can't expect perfection since this is an evolving world!

You have to submit corrections to NAVTECH and GARMIN. Please realize that maps are never up to date whether you use Google maps, TomTom, NAVTECH or others.

I have a 3490 with the latest maps and I have not encounter any errors as of today. Traffic is awesome, the best Garmin has had.
