There's a particular intersection where I wish a RLC cam would be installed....yesterday.
People routinely blow the light, come off the expressway and bypass the line by making an illegal left turn. All because there isn't a camera and they know it.
Today, a Camry type Lexus is at the head of the line, and this young **** comes up in his Hemi 300. The Lexus driver is clearly middle-aged, and well aware what the **** is going to do.
They light it up when the light turns green, and even though the Camry type Lexus is outmatched, by virtue of the positioning she wins. As we all make the turn, the blip of a siren rears its head, a cop is weaving through traffic, and stops parallel to the 300 Hemi. Dude was smoked.
If there were a camera there, this behavior would be reduced. But since there isn't, it's good to see justice prevail.
All the Cam does is make money
The dirt bag wont even remember what happened. But the Cop can edjumacate the little crapper and maybe change his ways.

How is a RED light camera going to do anything for an infraction that occurred during a GREEN light? They don't take photos under green or when cars have stopped for the red.

In this case it's a deterrent. People also do it on red, yellow, green, as well as blowing the light in the proper lane on red. There's no downside to a RLC.
