Basically, because "School Children Must Be Present" the camera companies have to come up with a way to photograph not only the car that is speeding, but include a pedestrian to enforce violations. It's up to the camera companies to figure out how to do this.

The legal ramifications are just beginning to come out. If it's illegal in Illinois to photograph a driver for a red light camera violation, how on earth will it be legal to photograph minor children?

The camera program has been delayed until 2013.

Sounds complicated

I came across this same article while doing camera research today.

Sounds complicated, it does ... (channeling Yoda)

JM

this is good

so the camera company is going to photograph **and** certify the age of the people? And, doesn't the sign also say **children** not child, so don't they need a minimum of 2?

all this just to increase revenues...

It's just plain insanity.

It's just plain insanity.

Emanuel says

Quote:

To make his case, Emanuel cited the safety effectiveness of the city's red-light camera program, which since 2003 has raised hundreds of millions of dollars through automated traffic citations.

Sounds like the cameras are promoting safety also.

They've got to be since there are so few violations!

Expectations....

I guess the ongoing teachers strike is not expected to end soon...

"There has been centimeters, and we are still kilometers apart,” said teachers union president Karen Lewis.

With the faculty on the picket line would they count as "School Children Must Be Present"?

Just in Chicago yesterday

and observed a stop sign that seemed to need a pedestrian in the cross walk to be enforced. At least that how I read the sign. At least on Monday my cousin was driving and didn't run any red lights.

They'll find a way.

Since there is so much money involved, they will no doubt find a way to make the law match how the cameras work, regardless of what the people want.

Good to hear that it also meant for safety not all in for the

money.

Can't it be....

....for both the money and safety?
