I looked at the specs for the 3590 on Garmin website. I am considering buying a new unit. It does not list having a trip log. Other units do have it, as shown at the bottom of the spec list.
Does anyone know if it does have the trip log feature, and can it be reset and does it have "hide" and "show?"

has the trip log, same as other nuvi's. From the 35xx owners manual:
Viewing the Trip Log
Your device keeps a trip log, which is a record of
the path you have traveled.
1 Select Settings > Map and Vehicle > Map Layers.
2 Select the Trip Log check box.
Later in the manual, it has this reference:
Device and Privacy Settings
Select Settings > Device.
• Travel History: Allows the device to record
information for the myTrends (page 23),
Where I’ve Been (page 46) and Trip Log
(page 26) features.
• Clear Travel History
