Be extra careful when travelling near Nassau Blvd & Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead. The flash on the red light camera must be very nervous, because it pops photos faster than the paparazzi shooting Tom Cruise & Katy Holmes.
Keep Watching
Be really extra careful. Nassau and Suffolk counties have received the go ahead to add more RLCs.
Bob: My toys: Nüvi 1390T, Droid X2, Nook Color (rooted), Motorola Xoom, Kindle 2, a Yo-Yo and a Slinky. Gotta have toys.
The cameras on Old Country
The cameras on Old Country Road near Roosevelt Field seem to get a lot of "customers".
Approval was given for another 50 cameras in Nassau and another 50 in Suffolk.
Be Prepared - The RLC Motto
The RLC's have a speed sensor (the ticket tells you you MPH, as does the video). What I have heard is that a car approaching at a relatively high speed, while the light is red, triggers the device, including flash. This is so it can "capture" the offender's image while the vehicle is in the field of focus. When reviewed, it will be seen (hopefully) that the vehicle did not enter the intersection, and no ticket will issue. I don't know this for a fact, but sounds reasonable.
