Can't edit latest American Jill voice for Garmin

Don't know if this is the right forum but I have always edited the Garmin American Jill voice but the last update looks like a bunch of greek letters in the TTS voice editor including v290. Maybe Turbocc could look at this.

Encryption Changed

Editing is not possible anymore. See Box Car's post:

Jill 3.0

The problem is the new version Jill 3.0 can't be read by TTSVoiceEditor. When opening 3.0 everything is scrambled. If you have a backup of Jill 2.90 use that if you want to edit. I don't see any significant changes in 3.0

BTW I PM'd turboccc on May 15 about this but never received a response.
I still only see V 2.90 TTSVoice Editor at his site, so no update to the Voice Editor.

Is Jill 2.9 available anywhere?

Can't Find Jill 2.90

I can't find anywhere to download V 2.90.
I was able to find a link from Garmin to downlaod V 1.90 from Jamuary 8, 2008.
http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=1007

Go figure, they have a link for 1.90 and 3.0 with 7 updates in between yet only those two can be downloaded.

If you like PM me with an email address that can accept a 16MB file and I'll attach V 2.90 and send to you.

Any luck

Has anyone found a work around for this issue? I hate hearing recalculating, lol.

I don't have it installed but you may want to try this edit at your own risk.

The "recalcaulating" in the old Jill file is at line 68, see if you can delete everything in that line.

Thank God it's Garmin"s fault!

I tried to edit Jill and was going crazy. I downloaded the TTS program three times (different versions) and was sure I was doing something wrong.
Last time I had no problem at all. They love to take the fun out of everything.

encryption

How can Garmin change the encryption in such a way that older units can still decrypt it? Does the Jill 3.0 voice require a certain firmware level, or is the encryption key located somewhere in the voice file itself?

Encryption

I'm not sure, bur I think it is in the file itself.
I could edit the voice until I downloaded the new version of Jill. After that the TTS program would not work.

No recalculating

I noticed the other day when I detoured off of my route that the nuvi did not say recalulating. It just went straight to the new directions.

What a relief! That was the main reason I used the TTS editor was to blank out the recalculating phrase.

Maybe Garmin got a lot of complaints about it? I thought it was kinds strange and almost forgot for a few minutes that this was a brand new unit I hadn't changed the voices on. Go figure.
