Garmin Communicator Plugin

I have the same problem with Mapquest and I am not using a business address.

I'm trying this again this morning with Google Maps and still when I hit the "Send" tag, only could send to E-Mail. I did the plug in and it did work with the test page. Don't know what else I could do, oh, using business address and normal address, but no go.

When I installed the plug-in, I noticed it said the computer needed to be restarted. This restart notice was only up for a moment. I didn't do the restart and I got an error on the plug-in test. I restarted my computer and everything worked as advertised.

If you installed the plug-in and it doesn't work, try restarting your computer

Well, I finally solved my problem. I had to reset all the settings in IE7/Tools/Internet Options/Internet Security/Reset all zones to default levels. This allowed the activex bar to display during the install. Clicked on it to accept it and the plugin loaded.

It only works for individual points not for routes so be sure that you have an individual point selected and not a route.

Try entering either of these addresses and see if you get the GPS option when you click on the "Send" button in Google Maps.

I did what you told me to do, but still just send to "E-Mail" I even changed IE7 to the defaults, but still not working.

Just to be sure I used the POI Loader and that worked fine, so this is the first time that I'm having problems with something that should work.

I was putting in both addresses, my booboo. Is this going to change to routes?

We don't know if it's going to work with routes, if that's what you are asking.

This, currently, works for SINGLE locations.

Don't do driving directions.

Only search for single addresses and it should work.

I had a computer geek yesterday try the plugin with no luck.

he is good too. I have Vista SP1 and IE7. It loads, but does nothing with Google, Mapqust or the test page. The test page does not say a thing, it just sits there. If I disable the plugin, it says it not loaded.

You don't have to have the gps attached to the computer to install the plug in.Only for the test is when needed.I re-downloaded to make sure I had no problems.I have xp and IE7.Go to start then programs and click on internet explorer now paste in http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3608 and go to site and download the plugin. Use save not run.Once the download is complete close internet explorer and click on run for the plugin located in the folder you saved it in.If you don't close internet explorer you will get error to re-try.I notice this version 2.5.1 was dated 4-9-08.

I installed the Mac version of this today and it's working just fine in Safari 3.2.1 (OS X 10.5.5) with my Nuvi 360. Now if there was a web site like the fist test link posted with a map that fills the screen like the regular Google maps page...

It might work better with mozilla...

My PC runs Windows XP.

The Garmin Communicator downloads just fine. But when I try to run it it says:

"Unable to Create a temporary folder to extract to.
Possible Cause: You don't have proper permissions to create files or folders in your temporary folder."

What does that mean? Where is the temporary folder that it is trying to put files into? I am guessing that I may have deleted the temporary folder. Where should I re-create that temporary folder.

have you had your voice folder get erased
I had this happen twice. I had to reload from website both times

I am not sure what the voice folder is. Are you talking about a folder on the Garmin or on the PC?

The voice folder on the Nuvi exists. The gps works great, I am just wanting to send a location from mapquest to my gps. Says I need Garmin Communicator to do it. When I try to run the Garmin Communicator, it gives the error messages I quoted earlier.

Here's what you can try. On your PC -- Click on Start-->Run--Enter "cmd" then Enter (This will open a Dos box). Type "set" and look for temp=(folder). You can then open My Computer and look into that folder.
You can clean out that folder and try again.

The dos prompt "Set" command above should show you what your temp folder is, on my XP machine there are two:

TEMP=D:\Temp
TMP=D:\Temp

though I think the default is in C:\Windows - I changed them to a different drive.. The other reason you might not be able to create or edit a folder is your user status. Are you running as an Administrator or as a User?

I can't install the plugin for my nuvi 1450, I had it on here then I had to format my computer, after I had everything going again I tried to install the plugin again and it would do it,
I get a message that says....This application failed to start because the application is configured incorrectly.
which application is it talking about and how do I configure it,
