Never seem to get home :o(

I have set my home location in my Nuvi-260W several times, but never seem to arrive at home....
When you reach your destination, the Garmin clears the where-to-route.
This works fine at my work as we have a big parking lot and have set the location on the entrance of it.
However... at home....

Only 2 parking places, with a 6 meter (+/- 19 ft?) walkway to the door.

I have tried parking in the other spot, setting it closer to the door and road, but it always is off about 30ft.

I know it will never be 100% accurate, but when the satelite screen shows on average "13ft accurate", I wonder why I can't get home?

Have even tried leaving the GPS on for +/- 45mins on my parking place and had a 10ft accuracy!!, "trying" to get home still didn't do it.

Has anyone have the same issue and found a solution to this? I really like to get "home" 1 day.
I'm hungry, sleepy and in need of a shower, that I do not seem to get "at home" razz

Try.....

It might be instructive to walk around a bit and see where you end up when it DOES say you are there.

Just guessing, I'd say try setting it to the other side of the road once......or if the street is wide, try standing out in the middle (OK, maybe not practical!) mrgreen

Might also try setting it to your street address.

P.S. Then see the other threads on here about why you should NOT set it to your real HOME !!! shock

Well, as we've discussed, there other ways to get your real home address via insurance papers, registration etc., so I've never been too worried about that. And no, I'm not packing all the car paperwork in my wallet! razz

Besides, just taking the unit with you makes more sense, right?

my "home" location to the entrance just inside the subdivision

I set my "home" location to the entrance road just inside the subdivision and it works fine as far as the unit believing that it has arrived at the location and ends the routing.

It also doesn't take someone who may steal the GPS right to my front door.

I have a 265WT and it also

I have a 265WT and it also does not quite fully arrive at home. I usually just shut it off when I arrive home and am not concerned about it. The next time I turn it on, the route is clear.
Also, if I do not shut it off and again leave home, it clears as soon as I get underway.

I am not concerned about setting my home address in the unit because I have the security password turned on and no one would be able to get it anyway.

Tight lines

I have never looked to see if I am home

I fall into the close enough for all practical purposes area on this one.

Maybe you're losing satellite reception?

I also have this issue when trying to go home but I think it's because the highrise buildings nearby partially block out the satellite signals so the unit is unable to update my position.

Gary Hayman

Gary Hayman's website, nuvi tips and tricks, has an idea to make home a proximity point and play a tune when you get home. You wouldn't have to be within 6 feet of one spot; make the proximity distance whatever you want.
