I'm new to Base Camp (and Mac's).
I've found that the "base map 2.0" that comes with Base Camp can not search street addresses.
With my Nuvi 760 plugged-in I can search street addresses with the City Navigator NA map that resides on the Nuvi.
This City Navigator map on the Nuvi is unlocked, and I can see and use it in Base Camp when the device is plugged-in to the Mac.
Is there any way to import the City Navigator map on my Nuvi to Base Camp, so I don't have to plug the device in each time I want use that particular map and search addresses?
Thanks in advance.
There is no way to import the Nuvi maps to Basecamp or the older Mapsource software. If you update the maps on your Nuvi you can select to have the maps installed on the GPS and your MAC. At that point you'll be able to use Basecamp without the Nuvi attached.
I wonder if you could use the free maps found at http://www.osmmaps.com/united-states.html to accomplish what you want (using Basecamp without the Nuvi attached)?
I know the maps are very detailed and are routeable and seem to be recognized by Basecamp. I have the US maps in a folder called Map on an SD card, but you could probably put them on your computer as well and they would be recognized.
When I update the maps on my 3790lmt I also have it install the latest map into BaseCamp. The problem I am having is every time I hook my 3790lmt up tp the computer (Mac) and open BaseCamp it downloads the map from the gps to BaseCamp which already has the map loaded. I can't find any options to stop it from happening. Any suggestions?
I don't think it's downloading the maps from the Nuvi but it is reading in/loading those maps into the software.
Sorry, I don't know how to stop it from happening, although I'd like to know, and hopefully someone here can help.
I have a somewhat similar puzzle. When I connect my Garmin to my Mac, I end up with the waypoints from the Garmin going into Basecamp, which gives me many many duplicate waypoints in Basecamp. Also, I end up the the same problem in the Garmin.
I would prefer to just upload selected folders of waypoints going only from the Mac to the Garmin.
MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard.
