A&W

How do I search for A&W?

The search term, no matter how I spell it (A&W, A & W, A and W), is not recognized because it's too short.

I just went to the full alphabetical listing at

http://www.poi-factory.com/poifiles/alpha

and scrolled down until I found it. Fortunately, it was very near the beginning of the list.

Hmm

I'm not sure that The Factory has a file for it since a search of the files for root beer only brings up Stewarts:

You may be interested in the web tool:

http://www.awrestaurants.com/storelocator.php?address=

although that's a far cry from a GPS-loaded POI file.

I stand happily corrected!

Thanks

Didn't see the alphabetical list.

Needs updating

The three nearest A & W are not in our poi file here.
Emanjungle is not a regular contributor.
I have sent him a message via the contact tab.

Not a valid emai address.

Jonathon or Globe Turtle. Do you have a way to contact Emanjungle?

Gone

The A&W's I used to know are all gone. The chain has shrunk significantly. The last one I have personally seen recently is near Binghamton, NY in Owego, NY. There is one here on Long Island but is quite far from me.

Excellent question

This was an excellent question, it shows that you have made a decent attempt at finding the file first before asking. I have had the same issues myself in finding this POI.

Unfortunately it does not appear to be very up-to-date, I would dare say it has been abandoned. I would be almost willing to take it over and maintain it, however it appears to be a rather difficult challenge as their website's restaurant locater only shows locations within a 200 mile search radius of your search point.

I see no convenient way to ensure that all locations are included without major overlapping searches.

Search this way

I have found it easier to search using Google

Put this into your search bar
"site:poi-factory.com A&W" (without the quotes)

Suggestion

A lot of people have trouble getting to the
View all POI files (listed alphabetically)

link

I think it ought to be near the top on a line by itself just above the majot POI File Categories

I was surprised myself (I tried it) that following the search POI files link by clicking on the yellow-orange button and then entering "A&W" did not produce anything. I was told I had to have a positive keyword so when I added "restaurant" after "A&W", I got a result.

Error message

"You must include at least one positive keyword with 3 characters or more."

Technically A&W is "three characters or more", but maybe it doesn't like the & symbol in the middle?

I tried another search, A&WS, same result. When I entered A&WST, it accepted this search criteria.

I also tried TA&WS, and it did not like this either.

I am leaning toward the conclusion that you need at least three consecutive letters in the search.

How about using this website?

Happened across this website
http://www.usarestaurantlocator.com/state-locations.php?rest...
It doesn't look to be perfect as a couple local A&Ws don't show up in it when I cross checked it to the A&W site. But maybe it's an easier way to get started and then rely on feedback from users to enhance its accuracy further. Just a thought.

Orphaned File

Emanjungle hasn't visited the site in quite a while, so I'd consider this an orphaned file.

Jonathan

Thanks Mahoney

The file is now up to date. From 346 to 677 accurate entries in less than 24 hours.

A & W

Thanks, but I found out this morning that I missed 2 locations in Arkansas. (Gassville and Siloam Springs). If anyone knows of missing locations, please let me know.
