gpsmap 62s, show custom POI always on map?

First of all, i use my gps for hiking and trekking. A gentleman on another forum has created a massive set of POI along a trail that im planning to do later this year. Here you can find his csv file. http://db.tt/qqCnA7qK
Ive used the POI loader and loaded the 4000+ POI to my SD card, in the unit. I also added a BMP file with a nice icon, I added manually (also automatic when trying first). Now If a pan around the area and zoom in and out, I cant see the POIs, but If I search for custom POI I find the neatly added up in proximity order. If I choose to view one of the POIs I perfectly see the icon, I can zoom in an out, pan etc. But if I exit the search, and go to the exact same spot I cant see the nor the icon, dot or text. I have tried all zoom levels, I have changed the settings in such as change the point and waypoint zoom levels from auto to a specific amount, nothing. I have tried everything I think.

What I want to achieve is the possibility to trek the trail and once or twice everyday pick up the gps and to see the next couple of POIs on the trail in front of me. Not have to search for a specific one (there are over 4000!). I know I can convert som of the POIs to waypoints and see them on the map, I know that I also can trace them and make a path and load that up to, but the job is already done so I am hoping I can get them to show on the map permanently, auto or on a specific zoom level.
All help i appreciated. Thank you

try reloading

Try reloading and use the manual mode to set a proximity alert. The alert distance need not be large but on automotive units it will normally cause the icon to be displayed if the location is along your route.

thanks, I did reload them

thanks, I did reload them with proximity alert, but what I dont get is them on the actual map, all the time. When im zooming and panning around i get nothing, im looking for a specific setting on the unit that will allow them to be visible all the time.

.

I don't have that model, but I used to have some of the previous handheld models, so the interface might be similar.

On one of the menu screens (possibly for the display or map settings), there should be a setting that indicates level of detail and it should/might have selection for various things such as User Points (or something like that). Those settings might control it.

If not, then you might not be able to show them at all levels.

You might also find some information on this site.

I found out after pretty

I found out after pretty much going through all menues, settings etc, that pressing "reset", when in map / navigation mode, was the thing that made the POIS appear. Now I can choose when to see them, but that is through the zoom levels of "user waypoints", thats the one that affected the custom pois. Thanks for the efforts anyways
