I'm trying to convert my garmin files to ov2. Using poiedit, the garmin files appear in windows 7 as microsoft excel files. They open after selecting the suggested format (can't remember which). When I try to save as I keep getting an error windows saying the format does not match even though I have selected tomtom ov2 format. Any help greatly appreciated.
TomTom

It seems POIEdit has a problem with files that have multi-line descriptions.
You could try Extra_POI_Editor

Garmin Nuvi 2450

What's your plan for the Garmin files converted to ov2?

I don't think you can use Excel for an .OV2 format file. Try Extra POI Editor, that's what I've been using. It will strip out most all of the Garmin field data though.
my understanding on OV2 files

My understanding is the format is quite limited. Essentially it is just the coordinates and a name. I think the name field is limited to around 20 characters but I don't have a TT so I can't check.

Name & phone number only. It'd be really nice if it included at least the address.
